The KORA All Africa Music Awards was created in 1994 and has been produced and managed by Meridional ECA (Pty) Ltd., a Namibian registered company until 1999 when it was transferred under the management of a South African- registered Company, KORA Entertainment Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd.

 KORA has not been created to make money, and has since inception, been funded mainly by myself as President and Executive Producer, by 2005, to the tune of over US $14 million into the event.

Coming after protests from many African artists, political leaders and our licensees in various African countries, requesting the moving around of the Pan-African awards ceremony, we, the organizers have decided to move the event from South Africa where it has been staged for ten years to Nigeria.
